2015 Visiting Artists Program
The Torpedo Art Center in Alexandria, Virginia is home to the largest collection of working-artist studios in the United States.
After a national call for entries with over 100 applicants, Wallar was selected to be part of the 2015 summer residence program. She painted, explained, and demonstrated her techniques for painting cheese pictures to visitors during the months of July, August, and September.
Her selection of cheese as a still-life subject fascinated gallery goers who appreciated the compositions of shapes, sizes, and colors set against a timeless background, making the work at once familiar and ephemeral.
